Procedure-Based Consent Form Automation

Updated this week

Overview

Procedure-based consent form automation ensures that patients automatically receive the appropriate consent forms for specific procedures. When an appointment is scheduled with a procedure code, the designated forms are automatically sent to the patient’s queue on the day of the appointment.

This feature simplifies the process of managing consent forms, saving time and reducing manual effort.

How to Set Up Procedure-Based Consent Form Automation

Step 1: Access the Automation Settings

  1. Navigate to Paperless Forms > Forms Automation > Procedure-Based Automation.

  2. Click on Add New to create a new automation rule.

Step 2: Configure the Automation

  1. Add a Label: Enter a descriptive name for your automation rule to help identify its purpose.

  2. Select Procedure Code(s): Choose the specific procedure code(s) for which this automation will apply.

  3. Attach Consent Forms: Select all the consent forms that should be sent to the patient’s queue for appointments associated with the chosen procedure code.

Step 3: Save Your Settings

  • Click Save to activate the automation.

From now on, whenever you schedule an appointment for a patient that includes a procedure code linked to forms automation, the corresponding form(s) will automatically be added to the patient’s forms queue for that appointment.

Important Notes

  • This feature relies on the procedure codes selected in Open Dental.

  • The system also syncs the tooth number tied to the procedure with the consent form.

  • For the automation to function properly, ensure that both the procedure code and tooth number are accurately entered and consistent in Open Dental and Kasper.
